Many of you have curiously asked, “What’s in your gym bag?” These are my must-haves for a successful workout session, from the nutritional essentials to personal care and functional accessories.
Let’s take a look:
1. Nutritional Essentials
- Protein Powder and Shaker Bottle: I always mix and drink my protein shake within 30 minutes of completing my workout. It helps in muscle recovery.
- Empty Water Bottle with Pre-Workout Supplement Powder: Staying hydrated and energized before and during a workout is vital, so I always keep this handy.
2. Supportive Gear
- Knee Sleeves, Wrist Wraps, and Elbow Sleeves: Supporting my joints, ligaments, and tendons when lifting and lowering weights is essential for preventing injuries.
3. Footwear
- Lifting Shoes: I treat these carefully and only wear them inside the gym when lifting weights.
- Running Shoes: If it’s a cardio day, these are my go-to for comfort and support.
4. Personal Care and Comfort Items
- Towel: I guarantee you, I will sweat! So, a towel to wipe my sweat is a must.
- Chap Stick and Sunscreen: Protecting my lips and skin is essential, especially if I’m doing outdoor workouts.
- Hairbrush: For those quick touch-ups after a gym session.
- Deodorant: Keeping fresh during and after a workout is essential, so deodorant is always in my bag.
5. Tracking and Logging Tools
- Training Log and Pencil: I make notes during workouts to track progress.
- HR Chest Strap and POLAR Sensor: This helps me monitor my heart rate during each workout, ensuring I stay in the desired range.
6. Personal Essentials
- Lock for Gym Locker, YMCA Member Card, ID, and Car Fob are my must-have items for a hassle-free gym experience.
- A $20 Bill: You never know when you need cash!
- Change of Clothes: If I’m going somewhere after the gym and can’t stop home to shower and change, I’ll bring an extra outfit.
7. My Phone
- Cell Phone: For music, tracking, or staying connected, my phone is always in my gym bag.
My gym bag might look packed with a lot. Still, each item has a purpose and contributes to my effective and enjoyable workout routine.
